Re: [kictanet] NTSA - New driving license a big joke

Why are we as a country investing millions of dollars in ICT Platforms to help in G2C interaction and then ask us to go back to the Nyayo House era of lining up for driving licenses? Listers,
I was just checking on twitter the requirements for the new generation driving license by NTSA and i must admit that it is a big joke and a scam.
For starters, the requirement that one deposits KES 3150 is a big joke knowing that this is almost half the salary of workers upcountry (forget those driving around in government or company owned guzzlers who pay for everything from office petty cash) In any case, an ATM card with similar features as the new driving license is free in local banks, can NTSA clarify what the public is paying for? With digitization, why does it take two weeks to obtain this new driving license?, arent this avenues for promoting corruption?

Isn't this similar to the immigration department demanding all Kenyans living abroad to come home and replace their passports. Let's not even talk about the months long backlog or 'speedy service' charge at the department. Seems people are quick to implement poorly thought solutions and milk Kenyans more. There is something haphazard about the rushed digitilisation of every aspact of citizenship in Kenya. From NTSa to new passports, to lands to NEMIS. Government should first create a policy framework, mapping out all these projects, the actors, the buck where everything stops and most importantly, just spell out the purposes that the big data they now have will be used. @Walu, is your taskforce handling this? In the same vein have you noticed the long lines winding around Nyayo House in pursuit of passports and other services from immigration? I don't think those lines were as long during the "analogue" days some years ago... Must be disastrous for those in the lines during the rainy weather W, On Mon, May 28, 2018, at 10:09 AM, Ali Hussein via kictanet wrote:
