The eCitizen portal has been down since yesterday. I haven't seen any official communication explaining the downtime. Anyone knows why? IMHO, a critical site like it should have 99.9% uptime and any downtime should be communicated. Or could it be that our friends from Mulot wish to collect and keep the convenience fees. Regards, Victor
I noticed the same. Also has anyone faced any difficulties from the platform while seeking certain services from ecitizen since the launch? On Wed, 26 Jul 2023, 14:19 Victor Kapiyo via KICTANet, < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:

This is a site with so much data and there are probably people working to resolve things. However, it would really help if we got a statement from the relevant authorities on what is going on, plus progress reports as they secure the site back. At the end of the day, they could also share, in spaces such as this one, about the attack(s), mitigation, measures taken etc. I agree with Victor that someone needs to urgently address the public on the situation. Separately, there is a lot to reflect about with migrating services online, without alternatives for downtime like these..... IMHO, a critical site like it should have 99.9% uptime and any downtime should be communicated. Or could it be that our friends from Mulot wish to collect and keep the convenience fees.

Listers, Kenya Power and Mpesa now seem down and if rumours are to be believed by the same people that knocked eCitizen offline. Has there been any official communication by the relevant agencies or ministries? Is our data safe? Just a week ago what seemed like the entirety of KEBS’ data was being sold on the dark web.
Best,

Warmly, Sidney

Best,

IMHO, a critical site like it should have 99.9% uptime and any downtime should be communicated. Or could it be that our friends from Mulot wish to collect and keep the convenience fees.

good afternoon, I have been following the story online but I am finding that people need to differentiate between a DDoS that affects the availability of services and data loss (commonly referred to as hacking) that affects the confidentiality and integrity of data The other issue is cyber threat actors. Listers, In January this year, KICTANet flagged the e-Citizen platform where we noted that it lacked critical features of an efficient government e-service portal. good afternoon, I have been following the story online but I am finding that people need to differentiate between a DDoS that affects the availability of services and data loss (commonly referred to as hacking) that affects the confidentiality and integrity of data
The other issue is cyber threat actors. We have criminals, hacktivists and state-sponsored. That distinction also needs to be made in this situation

Best,
