This is a clear case where Business Continuity becomes a major issue. I do hope the issue is resolved sooner rather than later.. Ali, The issue was resolved and the registry is up. They sent a message to registrars explaining the technical hiccup. Yes, redundancy and business continuity has to be explored further as we develop a world class registry. Dear Ali, As communicated earlier through registrar announce, KeNIC experienced a technical hitch on Wednesday evening due to a power outage. As a result our operations were interrupted on 9/7/2014 and 10/7/2014. The issues have since been resolved and registrars can now register and renew domains. Eric Thanks for your response. I think however that the community and your customers need to know exactly what happened and what are the mitigating factors going forward that KeNIC will put in place to ensure this doesn't occur in future. As you may well understand this is a National Registry and for it to be down for the better part of a week is just NOT ACCEPTABLE. Eric, I have to agree with Ali on this one. However, I've tempered myself in my old age and rather than getting upset I'd like to offer our services ( http://kili.io) and would be happy to help out with getting the architecture to a better place by using local cloud hosting. We not only handle complex Kenya-based hosting these days, but can offer full-service deployments for your applications and code. Most of our code is open source (https://github.com/kili) and we're a highly transparent organization with great references. Just let me know. Eric A 'well crafted' like the one below doesn't answer my concerns. I'm talking as a customer and one who is rooting for the continued success of KeNIC. The issue is serious and I ask again how are you going to mitigate against such occurrences going forward.
