Eric,

I have to agree with Ali on this one.  However, I've tempered myself in my old age and rather than getting upset I'd like to offer our services (http://kili.io) and would be happy to help out with getting the architecture to a better place by using local cloud hosting.  We not only handle complex Kenya-based hosting these days, but can offer full-service deployments for your applications and code.

Most of our code is open source (https://github.com/kili) and we're a highly transparent organization with great references.  Just let me know.

Cheers,
Adam

Thanks for your response. I think however that the community and your customers need to know exactly what happened and what are the mitigating factors going forward that KeNIC will put in place to ensure this doesn't occur in future. As you may well understand this is a National Registry and for it to be down for the better part of a week is just NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Dear Ali,

As communicated earlier through registrar announce, KeNIC experienced a technical hitch on Wednesday evening due to a power outage. As a result our operations were interrupted on 9/7/2014 and 10/7/2014.

The issues have since been resolved and registrars can now register and renew domains. We apologize for any inconveniences caused and thank you for your continued support.

Anyone can give us an update regarding KeNIC? We have been unable register or renew domains now for days. Is it just us or is everyone else facing the same problem.

This is a clear case where Business Continuity becomes a major issue. I do hope the issue is resolved sooner rather than later..
