Re: [kictanet] ICT Talk : ICT Park - Dr Bitange Ndemo

Liko, I have booked a conference facility belonging to our commercial arm (UNES) for 50 people because all our lecture theatres are busy with teaching. It is called Arziki in Chiromo campus - no parking problem. They will charge 5,800/- for the room and 150/- per person for tea and snacks. We can either "changa" to defray these costs or one of us can pay for it. It might be too small for ICT board!! tm On 1/11/10, Mwololo Tim <[email protected]> wrote:

Hi, Now that the premises is not free can we agree that we pay 500/- each just in case only 20 people show up. As indicated the venue has a capacity of only 50 people, which means the crowd can be more interactive. Dear All, I want to thank Robert, Liko, Tim, Bitange, ICT Board, and others for enduring to settle on the venue - UoN. It is however unfortunate it has take almost two weeks to settle on the venue + cost of tea for a sector that is leading in terms of growth. The offer from KIPPRA is good but the venue appears to be small, this discussion will be open to the sector and not for a focus group only. Robert and Liko should talk to ICT Board (Lucy Odhiambo) to cover the costs of venue and refreshment - if not successful, then we shall go the "harambee way". You may prefer to do this outside the list and update members on the progress. In the meantime, there was an earlier request for a volunteer to compile the notes, contributions and a report. So far I am not aware if this tast has been taken up and I wish to do the same voluntarily so we do not spend another week discussing the cost; I will require assistance from someone familiar with jargons surrounding the ICT Park. Robertn and Liko please comment. When do we expect draft program out? Regards, *********************************************************** Akich D. Dear all, KICTANet will cover all the costs for this forum. Thank you, tim for offering the facilities. Could you please also provide one person to handle logistics in coordination with the KICTANet team? Also, someone had volunteered to do the note-taking for the session. Could we please have a confirmation? We believe this will probably be the first of many such session to dig deep into the SEZ/ICT Park concept and flesh out the communities understanding of the issue. It is our hope that for future sessions we can have more organisations coming in with offers such as those presented by UoN and KIPPRA (maybe KIPPRA should host the next one?) Liko,
I have booked a conference facility belonging to our commercial arm (UNES) for 50 people because all our lecture theatres are busy with teaching. It is called Arziki in Chiromo campus - no parking problem. They will charge 5,800/- for the room and 150/- per person for tea and snacks. We can either "changa" to defray these costs or one of us can pay for it. It might be too small for ICT board!!

Brian, Thanks for the timely contribution and putting the matter to a rest. I hereby confirm my contribution to do the note - taking and generation of a report. The KICTANET secretariat can reach me for further planning and updates in good time. This equally serves as my cofirmation to attend the same. Warm regards Akich Kwach ----- Original Message ----- From: Brian Longwe To: [email protected] Cc: KICTAnet ICT Policy Discussions Sent: Tuesday, January 12, 2010 3:16 PM Subject: [kictanet] EVENT - ICT Talk : ICT Park - Dr Bitange Ndemo Dear all, KICTANet will cover all the costs for this forum. It is our hope that for future sessions we can have more organisations coming in with offers such as those presented by UoN and KIPPRA (maybe KIPPRA should host the next one?) <smile> Loving this. Barrack could I humbly suggest that ICT Board cover costs for the next session (which should be in another few weeks) in order to avoid confusion at this late stage now that there is a team that has been coordinating in the background in preparation for this week's event and all bases are currently covered?
