Is the current system broken? I've always believed the only problem we have is absent signage but technically there's an existing system. I chair the Taskforce that is dealing with the National Addresing System (NAS). The Taskforce includes among others the City Coucil, CCK, PCK, Google, MOIC, Ministry of lands , The then Metrpolitan ministry, oop, Central Business District mapIT of South Africa etc. So far, we are collecting data in a section of the CBD which will be incorporated in Googles navigation system. We then expect to role out the piloted area possibly by the end of May. Thereafter, we expect to cover the rest of Nairobi and funds permitting the rest of the country. Ali No L was not aware of the tender that's why l said 'perhaps' but am checking. We at the Taskforce have been categorical that we do not duplicate efforts and that's why we have opened up to private sector involvement. Incidentally, we are in Berne, Switzerland to engage the Universal Posta Union on the same lines. As you maybe aware, the UPU is the apex UN body that deals with global Postal matters. Our standards therefore will have to be informed by those set out by the UPU. Is the current system broken? I've always believed the only problem we have is absent signage but technically there's an existing system.

We at the Taskforce have been categorical that we do not duplicate efforts and that's why we have opened up to private sector involvement. Incidentally, we are in Berne, Switzerland to engage the Universal Posta Union on the same lines. As you maybe aware, the UPU is the apex UN body that deals with global Postal matters. Our standards therefore will have to be informed by those set out by the UPU. We can't therefore afford to have a multiplicity of efforts- it will not have the desired results Once I have checked I will let you know

The City of Nairobi has experienced a rapid increase in population with an influx of immigrants from rural areas, and the city infrastructure (water supply, sewerage, land management, waste disposal, health and sanitation, etc.) is not sufficient to meet the growing demands.
