Just tweeted my initial reaction. I see zero representation from Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt on the Task Force.

Why specifically the three countries?( Nigeria, South Africa and Egypti) No 06 is South African. On representation, seems there is only one woman No 13 from Mali.... Grace. 2010/11/12 Nnenna Nwakanma <nnenna@nnenna.org>

Hey folks, I don't think that the issue here is representation. What matter most is whether the Task Force can deliver or not. I know most of them on a personal level and I am sure: 1) that they can deliver 2) that in the past they have used an inclusive approach in setting up African institutions e.g. AfriNIC and AFTLD 3) that they have the experience, networks and foresight to thoroughly prepare a winning proposal 4) that issues related to gender, regional representation etc will definitely be addressed my two cents, Mblayo On Fri, Nov 12, 2010 at 10:54 AM, Grace Mutung'u (Bomu) <nmutungu@gmail.com>wrote:

Nnenna and all, Let's go for efficiency and not representation; for what I know, the African Union Commission did invite 22 people on a personal basis and only 11 were able to make it to Addis. By the way, the initial group invited included experts from NG, .KE, .EG, .SN..et al. and also 5 women. This representation thing cost us 10 years before we could incept Afrinic..Finally, I think the list of experts appended to the Communique of the AUC is the one of those who could attend the meeting and that the AUC has promised to get in touch with other potential experts to be included in the dotafrica Taskforce. In hope this serves! Pierre On 11/12/10, Nnenna Nwakanma <nnenna@nnenna.org> wrote:

This information is capital. If you were to ask me, I would have said that the above line should have been included in the communique. The team you have is a good one that we trust. I was looking for information on the due process!

Support!
In hope this serves! Yes it does, Will also tweet it

Congratulations Pierre, to you and the rest of the team. And I wish you all the best in doing this task. It might be worth exploring enhanced cooperation and partnership with other groups and communities such as Afralo, Africann, the regional IGFs, to mention a few. This is an opportunity to address Africa's critical internet resource issues and there is no better effort than to include representations from movements that have been discussing these in the recent past.
