Fare thee well Francis Wangusi

The ICT fraternity mourns the passing of the former Director-General of the Communications Authority of Kenya ( 2012 to 2019). Mr Wangusi joined the then Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) in 2000 at the level of Assistant Director and rose through the ranks to his current position. He served as the Director in charge of Broadcasting and Special Projects as well as the Director in charge of Licensing, Compliance and Standards. Mr Wangusi oversaw significant milestones in the ICT industry, including the transition to digital television broadcasting, operationalisation of the USF, the National Broadband Strategy, and the sector's exponential growth during his tenure until retirement. He was a key supporter of public participation and graced many KICTANet events. May he rest in peace as we condole with his family, friends, and colleagues. Hello @Mwendwa Kivuva <kivuva@kictanet.or.ke> , Indeed Eng Wangusi will be sorely missed. He was passionate about Internet Governance and was a key supporter of the Kenya Internet Governance Forum as well as other Internet Public Policy discussions in Kenya and beyond such as the Africa Domain Name System Forum and ICANN processes to name a few. He also oversaw transformation of the sector in his various roles as a Director and later on as Director General. Lest i forget, my first encounter with him was at the Kenya College of Communications and Technology (current day Mulitmedia University) in the early 2000's where he was one of the lecturers in the School of Telecommunications Engineering churning out many Engineers that ended up in Telco Space. His contributions will be etched in Kenya's ICT hall of fame for years to come. May his soul rest in peace On Thu, Mar 2, 2023 at 8:43 AM Mwendwa Kivuva via KICTANet < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:
