Dear Sam, What we need in business/governance is to break down tasks and assign responsibility to one person. An official in finance is assigned to disburse funds to the IT Head/Department/Official or contracted IT Firm. An automated workflow can send e-mail and sms reminders until the task is marked as "completed". With determined, empowered, straightforward people, these systems are not hard to put in place. Sam The problem is a lot worse than that. Many Govt officers (both county and national) are still using Gmail, yahoo and hotmail accounts while communicating officially.. In 2014. Ali, In my Central Kenya county not sure why we are investing in iPads without (at the same time) investing in proper email infrastructure/communications. On the bright side they have tendered for an EDMS system to also be used to automate Workflows. Thing is Internal Workflow Automation requires email functioning within an institutional domain name. Exactly. I don't really know when we will get our act together. Honestly, what is so difficult about ensuring that govt officials use official email addresses? And that they are secured accordingly? The last two IGFs this issue was raised and we were assured that this is an ongoing process. Admittedly things have improved somewhat but surely do they need to take two years?
