Good morning ladies and gentlemen, As promised, we are going to conduct online discussions on the Digital Hailing Services Regulations in the transport Sector.The discussions will be divided into 3 parts as per the document: 1. Licensing of the digital Hailing Service Operators 2. Licensing of Digital Hailing Service Vehicle 3. Licensing of Digital Hailing Service Driver *On Monday*, we will talk about the licensing of the Service Operators under part 1 of the regulations, and the regulations as a whole. Here are some of the questions we will seek to answer: a. Are the regulations necessary? b. Is NTSA the right/best body to regulate Digital Hailing Transport Services? c. What are the likely impacts in the transport industry, Information Society Sector and gig economy? etc d. NTSA TIMS

Hi, is there anybody from NTSA on this list in charge of TIMS who can assist? It seems that aliens can not register on TIMS because the data base has no information about alien card serial numbers nor id-numbers? If you try to access NTSA services thru ecitizen then there is no option to apply for the new biometric drivers license. -- Gerhard May

A must read on the intricate politics of encryption and espionage. For more than half a century, governments all over the world trusted a single company to keep the communications of their spies, soldiers and diplomats secret. The company, Crypto AG, got its first break with a contract to build code-making machines for U.S. troops during World War II. Flush with cash, it became a dominant maker of encryption devices for decades, navigating waves of technology from mechanical gears to electronic circuits and, finally, silicon chips and software. The Swiss firm made millions of dollars selling equipment to more than 120 countries well into the 21st century. Its clients included Iran, military juntas in Latin America, nuclear rivals India and Pakistan, and even the Vatican. But what none of its customers ever knew was that Crypto AG was secretly owned by the CIA in a highly classified partnership with West German intelligence. These spy agencies rigged the company’s devices so they could easily break the codes that countries used to send encrypted messages. Soviet Union and China, were never Crypto customers. Their well-founded suspicions of the company’s ties to the West shielded them from exposure, although the CIA history suggests that U.S. spies learned a great deal by monitoring other countries’ interactions with Moscow and Beijing. Good Afternoon listers, Thank you to all who contributed to yesterday's discussions Today we continue the online discussions on the Digital Hailing Services Regulations in the transport Sector. Today we focus on the 2 and 3 part of the document :- 1. Licensing of Digital Hailing Service Vehicle 2. Licensing of Digital Hailing Service Driver Specifically on the rules and responsibilities of car owners and drivers under part 2 and 3 @Bill had strongly brought out theses issues in yesterday's conversation, so we ask 1. Should the new regulations operate under kenyan labour laws? Should multi-national digital hailing taxi apps recognize workers unions for represenation and consultations for price fixing and commission percentages? 2. Should the regulations dictate how the number of hours the driver should be active on the application? 3. In line with purpose specification principle under the data protection Act, what information should be available to the driver and to the client before the ride? Should alias names of clients be used to request rides? Looking forward to your engagement
