Hi Kebba, All of my Exim4U installations use less than 1GB of memory for all application software. I would recommend that you use the "top" command to confirm that spamd is the culprit and use "free -m" to understand your memory usage. If spamd is the problem then I would research a solution on the SpamAssassin website and mailing list. I would also consult the Debian website and mailing lists. BTW, Googling "spamd uses too much memory" produces tons of articles. Here are a couple of things to try. The usual default is for spamd to spawn 5 child processes. However, spamd usually will run just fine with 1, 2 or 3 processes instead. You can change the number of child processes in the spamd service script in /etc/init.d (which on CentOS is /etc/init.d/spamassassin). Look in the service script for -m5, -m 5 or --max-children=5, lower the value and see if that helps. You can also try reducing the MaxScanSize in /etc/exim/exim4u_global_spam_virus and see if that helps reduce spamd's memory usage. As far as your horde problem, I would recommend that you look in your apache logs and see what is happening when you try to log on to horde. Specifically, look at /var/log/apache2/error.log and see what it tells you. FYI, Gordon On 06/17/2010 10:07 AM, Kebba Foon wrote:

Hi Gordon!
Thx for the replies!
I am still a newbie, so the TO DO number 3 is something that is out of the question for me at the moment, but if I stumble upon an elegant or even working solution, I will contact you!
Thx for the maillists! Groups are not what I need unfortunately, but almost. All it would need is a from-rewrite and external mail-address support + subject rewrite :-)
Regards, Daniel

Hi everyone!
Does anyone know of a elegant and efficient solution to integrate user-based whitelisting of HAM mail int Exim4U? The admin interface of exim4u has a header blocking feature, but that is not what I need.
Hi Daniel,
I believe that your suggestion is item 3 in the Exim4U "TO DO" list here:
http://exim4u.org/svn/exim4u_src/trunk/TODO
Would you like to have a go at it?
FYI,
Gordon

Hi!
I am searching for a very-very simple maillist solution which only does the following: - if a mail is sent to for instance list(a)domain.tld then it is sent to all the addresses in a mysql database associated to this list - during the distribution of the mails, it changes the from or reply-to header to match list(a)domain.tld, so that the replys also go to the whole list - if needed it takes a prefix from the mysql database and puts it in the front of the subject
That is it, very simple. No subscribe, no unsubscribe, no nothing. No admin interface required at the moment for this, but I think that for the functions above, mailman is an overkill (and it doesn't even know mysql).http://mlmmj.org/
You could try the Groups functionality in Exim4U. Alternatively, you could look at mailman alternatives such as sympa, mlmmj, majordomo, lyris and phplist:
http://www.sympa.org/ http://mlmmj.org/ http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/ http://www.lyris.com/solutions/listmanager/ http://www.phplist.com/
Lyris is not FOSS but are free for under 200 users.
Here is Wikipedia's list of free mailing list software:
