Hi Gordon! Thank you very much for your answer! There was a thread earlier: http://users.exim4u.org/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=user_nodes&user=4361… William wanted to do something similar and also achieved it. For the spamlist problem I have there are two solutions: 1. Use another IP from Exim4U, which you say that MULTI_IP will solve. I probably need to upgrade to newer version, because I don't have the option to assign an IP to the domains. Do you know why? 2. Use Exim4U for receiving and temporarily set a smarthost for it, so that when it receives an outgoing mail it then sends it to another smarthost, thus I am hoping that that smarthost will be checked only for spamlists. exim4u smarthost configuration

Hi Guys! I would like to use Exim4U server for only receiving mail and use a smarthost for outgoing mail. How can this be achieved? The smarthost does not require authentication, but I would like the users to authenticate the same way as they did with an original installation. Thank you, Daniel

outgoing SMTP IP

Hi Everyone! I have an old Exim4U installation that has been serving me well for the past few years. Recently we got on spamlists frequently. We can tell all the time what happened (weak passwords), but delisting is hard and slow, thus I would need to be able to set another IP address temporarily for outgoing mail. With this I can solve the problem temporarily, wait for the original IP to get delisted and then set it back. How can I achieve this the easiest way? I have another IP already on eth1 configured with another hostname and reverse also. Thank you in advance! Daniel

Permission denied: cannot create /domain.tld/postmaster/Maildir

Hi Guys, Tearing my hair out here trying to solve this one. I know it's supposed to be a permissions issue but bear with me first please. variable.php: $mailroot = "/home/exim4u/mail/"; Permissions are set to exim (UID / GID 93) for the above directory: drwxr-xr-x 3 exim exim 4096 Oct 28 13:32 . drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Oct 28 13:32 .. drwxr-xr-x 3 exim exim 4096 Oct 31 12:25 mail I create a domain eg domain.tld. System UID and GID are set to 93. Domain mail directory appears as /home/exim4u/mail/ which I believe is correct as it should then create /home/exim4u/mail/domain.tld for the mailboxes. However, it doesn't create the folder and this is what I see in exim/main.log: 2013-10-31 13:35:55 1VbqXb-0004fN-Is == /domain.tld/postmaster/Maildir <postmaster(a)domain.tld> R=virtual_domains T=virtual_delivery defer (13): Permission denied: cannot create /domain.tld/postmaster/Maildir I've been struggling to figure out why it's not creating /home/exim4u/mail/domain.tld with no success, even manually creating the domain.tld directory under /home/exim4u/mail. I then decided to create /domain.tld off the root since that appears on the surface to be what it's actually trying to do! Guess what, the mail got delivered and the postmaster directory created as /domain.tld/postmaster/Maildir. Why is it trying to create the directory off the root and not under the correct mailroot directory?

Any ideas anyone?!? I have googled and read the mailing list archives but unable to find anything relevant. Using exim4u with a manual Smarthost,

Hi, We use here a Exim4u installation to handle only local messages. The remote messages are forwarded to our ISP Mail server. This is done using a Transport to forward remote SMTP messages. Since my local ISP requires authenticated SMTP, I’ve configured the authenticators section like that using the client_send variable: fixed_login: driver = plaintext public_name = LOGIN server_prompts = "Username:: : Password::" server_condition = ${lookup mysql{SELECT '1' FROM users \ WHERE username = '${quote_mysql:$1}' \ AND clear = '${quote_mysql:$2}'} {yes}{no}} client_send = : userispaccount(a)domainisp.com : password server_set_id = $1 As you may see a valid ISP account is used to authenticate all the remote smtp messages. Today, the ISP have implemented another validation requiring that the authenticated SMTP user needs to be the same used in the From header. Considering that we would need to define the client_send variable with the same data as the “username” and “clear” MySQL fields from the authenticated Exim4u user. Please could you help me how to write a correct client_send syntax to lookup these data from MySQL users table? I´ve tried using the $1 and $2 variables like below but the ISP send’s me an authentication failure client_send = : $1 : $2 If I use the full account syntax it works perfectly but only for that messages sent using that e-mail account. MULTI_IP=YES problem

Hi I have some kind of problem recently since I have started to use MULTI_IP=yes regime inside Exim4U. Currently I am running Exim 4.80.1 and Exim4U v2.1.1 on Linux Gentoo x86_64. I've decided to configure exim4u using MULTI_IP environment (together with web pages modification related to assigning separate IP address (as well as rDNS records) to the each and every domain running inside that environment... If I decide to set MULTI_IP = NO and try to send E-mail from the Linux shell mail -s"test" abcdef(a)me.com (for example) the message goes out OK and with no problem... The strange behave is not happening for the each and every E-mail processed over MULTI_IP=YES but problems happened in less then 0,5% of the processed E-mails.. Someone please remind me why we authenticate users using cleartext passwords with exim4u. Why are we not using the crypt field? Exim 4.80.1 for RedHat, CentOS and Scientific Linux

As an FYI, ATrpms just posted Exim 4.80.1 RPM binary packages for currently supported RedHat, CentOS and Scientific Linux versions RHEL4, RHEL5 and RHEL6. The RPMs are available here: http://dl.atrpms.net/ I have so far installed the these RPMs on four 32bit CentOS5 systems and everything appears to be working properly. FYI, Gordon
