Exim4U version 1.2.3 - Critical Security Release

Hello Everybody, Exim4U version 1.2.3 was released today. This release is a critical security release. As such, all Exim4U installations should immediately be upgraded to version 1.2.3. This release addresses several security vulnerabilities in Exim4u v1.2.2 that were inherited from the base Vexim 2.2.1 php code. Exim4U version 1.2.3 may be downloaded from here: http://exim4u.org/html/download.html A summary of the changes and enhancements in version 1.2.3 may be reviewed here: http://exim4u.org/svn/exim4u_src/tags/1.2.3/VERSION Instructions for upgrading Exim4U version 1.2.2 to 1.2.3 are included in the change log here: http://exim4u.org/svn/exim4u_src/tags/1.2.3/CHANGELOG The security vulnerabilities were identified by Mike Garratt who also provided guidance in fixing the identified issues as well as personally correcting many of the weaknesses himself. Mike also backported all of the security fixes to Vexim 2.2.1 and has forwarded the revised Vexim code to Avleen Vig who has agreed to publish a new Vexim release shortly and which will incorporate these security fixes. New Setup - Debian - Auth Problem

So, after a catastrophic drive failure in my primary server with nothing but corrupt backups to help me. I am in the process of setting up emergency e-mail for my small customer base. I decided to give exim4u a shot since I've used vexim for several years. I've got nearly everything working except for one thing. For some reason, when an account is created it dumps it into the database but never fills the 'crypt' field out. Naturally this is a huge problem when it comes to retrieving messages. Anyone have any idea why this would be or what I should check to see if I can fix it? Thanks! ~T

can't add domains

Hi, i installed exim4u on arch linux. i got a working exim setup, but i can't add domains to the mysql database. i logged in to the exim4u web interface with the siteadmin user and changed the password, which got written to the users table. but when i try to add a local domain, i get a blank page. no errors are printed to the http server log, only a couple of warnings ( http://sprunge.us/aETF ). there are no errors in the mysql and exim logs either. the mail folder is /home/exim4u/mail and owned by user exim4u(150) and group exim4u(150). permissions on the folder are 775. any ideas on how to debug this ? thx in advance, Norbert Lechner

Gordon, After days i was able to establish the problem to be a firewall issue, there was an access list blocking telnet from my lan to the server lan, finally i was able to get our networking guys open port 25. but i just realize this problem: 1NbymG-0003d0-9m malware acl condition: clamd: ClamAV returned /var/spool/exim4/scan/1NbymG-0003d0-9m: lstat() failed: Permission denied. ERROR i have not checked the permissions yet but was just wondering if you know what might be the course. Hi After days of checking and cross checking, i still cant send emails with my new setup. i have not setup webmail on my server yet. i can connect and download my emails from my mail server but can't send emails am using icedove client. the error i get always is: 'Sending message failed. The message could not be send because connecting to SMTP server <myserver> failed. The server may be unavailable or refusing connections. Any idea what am doing wrong. Kebba

Hi Gordon You are 100% right when you said it was the mysql settings, i was using the syntax with the files you provided while i was running it on debian. now my mail boxes are getting created at system level am going to work now on the pop auth using courier and one more thing i notice mailbox quota is not implemented at user level only at domain level!!! Hi Gordon, Checking my exim mail queue i saw pending mails to the new domains i created: 2010-01-22 12:22:28 Received from www-data(a)mydomain.gm U=www-data P=local S=601 T="Welcome Domain Admin!" 2010-01-22 12:22:28 postmaster(a)mydomin.gm R=ditch_spam_for_relay_MX_direct defer (-1): condition check lookup defer i dont know if this mean anything, but the welcome mail seems to be seen when the domain is initially created on the mysql.
