Edwin, You spoke too soon.... "SAFARICOM INDICATES it may be forced to increase call cost charges to cater for increased cost of maintaining its networks. m.nation.co.ke" Best, Mando On Mon, Sep 5, 2011 at 11:33 PM, Edwin Onchari <eonchari@lynxbits.com>wrote:

Ferocious wars?!$! Are you kidding. Airtel got a drubbing. Annihilated. In 2009, they made a loss of us$60 million. $60 million!!! You do the math - Safaricom - 72% market share. All other players - Airtel included - 28%. Airtel were whipped in the Kenyan market. Mercilessly. All that Airtel did was destroy value in the market with price cuts. And it has barely made a dent on Safaricom. Last year Safaricom grew revenues and recruited more customers than Airtel. Wonder how long they will keep up the charade! ________________________________ From: Harry Hare <harry@africanedevelopment.org> To: Charles M <cmutsi@yahoo.com> Cc: KICTAnet ICT Policy Discussions <kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> Sent: Monday, September 5, 2011 4:10 PM Subject: [kictanet] Meza resigns from Airtel Interesting happenings here…http://bit.ly/ohQXmB Meza is back in Tanzania at Vodacom, and will probably be forced to work in partnership with Safaricom in Kenya a company he has competed with ferociously in the so dubbed "mobile wars".
