Can we have a competitive and thorough process to replace Kukubo. Half of the people working there should leave with him. The Kenya ICT Board is not a cash cow, it is a body that should be staffed with serious performers who understand their mission. We need to understand ICT does not and is not confined to mobile and mobile applications. We need to develop software development, we need to focus on green energy, we need to talk about nanotechnology and the like. In other words, we need to totally reengineer the business process of the KICTB. I have always been highly critical of the CEO's penchant for taking plane rides across the globe ostensibly to market Kenya when it would be cheaper to invite the Peter Thiel's and Pierre Omydar's of this world here to meet a large group of techies. I have also been critical of the staff's penchant for behaving as if they exist to be served and not to serve Kenyans. We need proper competitive processes to be applied to staff these positions. Let them be appraised by their job description and what they have achieved and equally account for these trips they are always making to one conference or the other.
