Facebook's Express Wifi is Now Live in Nairobi

Morning Listers. Any of you who have encountered this service in the said locations? What has been the experience? http://www.techweez.com/2017/03/01/express-wifi-facebook-kenya/ Timothy Oriedo about.me/Timoriedo

Hi Tim Is this the same as Internet.org? I think Airtel has been running this program with Facebook for sometime? This issue of Net Neutrality and how Multinationals like Facebook and Airtel engage in Africa is definitely a contentious issue. The arguments for and against are numerous. I myself have come to one conclusion:- That the Net Neutrality question is very emotive and each region must work towards the optimal tools on how to navigate it. This list has talked about Net Neutrality for many years. I think it's time this country and Africa really engage with government (The CA in the Kenya) on what the official position is. Reaching out to Rachel. What is the CA's position on this? Ali, this is different. check https://surf.expresswifi.com It's a last mile initiative by Surf in partnership with Facebook. They are providing very competitive packages. They are making the market interesting, bearing in mind they have started by providing services to the under-served regions. Kiambu, Kitengela, Limuru, Mlolongo, Ongata Rongai, Thika. Their data prices look competitive, and I think they will make the industry interesting, and maybe jittery. We will start seeing some interesting promotions by competitors. I hope they can provide unlimited internet at competitive prices and speeds as Zuku, Safaricom, and Liquid Telecom. Last mile has been a a challenge, and any entity trying to bridge that should be welcomed. Regards On Mar 3, 2017 6:30 AM, "Admin CampusCiti via kictanet" < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:
