Blog Post: African DNS Exchange and Mentorship Programme.
Dear listers, Just sharing in case you haven't seen this, Please read a blog post by ICANN's Africa team about the DNS Exchange and Mentor-ship Programme here: https://www.icann.org/news/blog/the-africa-dns-business-exchange-and-mentors... Regards Bob.
Bob Great initiative. Thanks for sharing. Going forward I'm hoping that ICANN will loosen the tough requirements in place to be an accredited ICANN Registrar. We do need an affirmative action plan for this continent to grow the DNS Space. One area I feel stakeholders need to pay attention to is the Domain Aftermarket. It's virgin territory here and more work needs to be done. A concerted effort by the private sector and other stakeholders will be key to realize the DNS potential in Africa. Keep up the good work! Hi Ali, Indeed ICANN is already working to address some of the challenges you highlight. As part of its Underserved Regions initiative, ICANN has been exploring potential changes to the insurance requirements for registrar accreditation. ICANN seeks your input to determine how best to address potential changes to or elimination of these requirements: *https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-3-2015-01-15-en <https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-3-2015-01-15-en> * Regards Bob.
