Lister's, This might be useful to some. Regards ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Fernando Zarur via Internet Society <Mail@connectedcommunity.org> Date: Wed, 23 Nov 2016 17:39:04 +0000 Subject: Open Forum : Data breaches and you: Global Internet Report 2016 To: otieno.barrack@gmail.com == Please, reply above this line == Hi everyone, We launched today the 2016 Global Internet Report <https://www.internetsociety.org/globalinternetreport/2016/>. This year's edition focuses on how large-scale data breaches, uncertainties about the use of our data, cybercrime, surveillance and other online threats are eroding trust in the Internet. Most importantly, though, it points towards solutions that may help us solve these problems. Data breaches are the oil spills of the digital economy! The above statement is no exaggeration. Over 429 million people were affected by reported data breaches in 2015 and that number is certain to grow even higher in 2016. This is why the report explores the impact data breaches have on user trust and their consequences for the global digital economy. The purpose of the publication is to offer solutions and to emphasize the important role that companies and organizations play in building a more trusted Internet. Here is a video preview <https://youtu.be/FxPRGDF-9iY> of the kind of data you can find in the publication. A key question raised by the report is: why are organisations not taking all available steps to protect the personal information they collect from each of us? As usual, would be great to read your responses. Best, Fernando PS - Feel free to share the report widely. This is key to raise awareness about these topics! ------------------------------ zarur@isoc.org Outreach manager Outreach Manager, Membership Services at ISOC Note: replies will be sent to the full discussion group. ------------------------------ Reply to Sender : https://connect.internetsociety.org/eGroups/PostReply/?GroupId=67&SenderKey=228d7854-415e-4170-945e-7e6fcfca3d5f&MID=13305&MDATE=756%253b466478&UserKey=23f4250c-36c4-47c0-a953-21fbfc0c933d&sKey=316fe1cb062c44aea994 Reply to Discussion : https://connect.internetsociety.org/eGroups/PostReply/?GroupId=67&MID=13305&MDATE=756%253b466478&UserKey=23f4250c-36c4-47c0-a953-21fbfc0c933d&sKey=316fe1cb062c44aea994 You are subscribed to "Open Forum" as otieno.barrack@gmail.com.
