Listers, I wish to invite you to a book launch on "Parliamentary Accessibility, Accountability and Transparency". The report is a product of IDRC-funded research conducted in 2011 and part of 2012 in relation to Parliament and the Right and Access to Information. An accompanying guide book dubbed "Knowing and Engaging the Kenyan Parliament" will also be launched. This research was informed by the fact that openness, access to information and genuine dialogue and participation are at the heart of the new constitutional dispensation. ARTICLE 19 with funding support from IDRC and the approval of the Speaker and the Clerk of the National Assembly sought to find out legislators' accessibility to their constituents as well as the constituents' access to parliamentary proceedings with the goal of strengthening citizens' access to information on parliament and as a way of leveraging their greater participation in setting parliamentary agenda and ensuring its accountability.
