ICT Park Presentation - . . . free lunch
Hi, I believe my cooling out session is over for instigating for Dr. Ndemo to give is a presentation and my failing to attend Being an astute planner I had taken into account the possibility of not being able to attend the session which is why I proposed that this historic presentation for recorded for posterity and to use against Dr. Ndemo if he ever decided to run for higher office. My suggestion that we contribute a token amount, 500/-, towards the hosting was short down and a free model was adopted all because of our entitlement mentality and over reliance on donors. This resulted in those who did not make it to the session miss the opportunity to listen to what was articulated as the "free" recording seems to have come to naught. There is a saying that goes "there is nothing like a free lunch", I hope the next time we shall avoid the free model. Robert, You can be a very fascinating person. You set up a meeting and fail to show up for reasons we respect. For you to again to start blaming those who showed up for turning up for "free lunch". To me, I find your phrase disrecpectful manner to address your colleagues unless it was a rare joke. I somehow understand your frustrations that todate, no report besides the copy of the PS, Dr Ndemo's presentation has been circulated to members as had been promised. What was most important is the "Town Hall Meeting" as it was dubbed, was a success and a good start whether it sponsored or not. As you may recall, I volunteered to capture the discussions and generate a report as I have seen other members do before, but my offer fell into deaf ears as neither You nor Liko had the coutersy to respond to my mail and i hoped you had your plans in place. You will also recall the person you later gave the node to do the same never turned up for the day's debate and Liko had to do the notes himself and I respected your position as the organisers. What I appeal for is team work and mutual respect for members. Hi Akich, When it was decided that we go the donor way I stepped back as I do not believe in a free lunch so my statements was as an outsider to the organisation. My "free lunch" statement revered to us wanting to get things for free, my intention was not to be disrespectful if I was then I apologize. In addition, I also tried to put in place a system that would allow those who could not get a chance to attend to be able to get the information, but like your offer mine also fell on deaf years. Lets hope this will be a lesson to us on how to handle activities of interest to us, if we can get the IPTV system up the next town hall meeting should be able to get broadcast live and people can participate from wherever they might be as the concept of a town hall meeting as changed with the advent of IT so lets move forward.
