Africa AI4D Policy Project
Do you believe in digital equality and recognise the need for data justice to underpin the adoption of advanced technologies for them to be truly developmental and transformative? Are you interested in how, as a continent and globally, we can promote Just AI – and in conducting research on how this can be achieved through ensuring rights-preserving regulatory frameworks? How can we create a safe, secure, and trusted environment for the developmental application of AI and what economic and social regulations are required to ensure a better distribution of the opportunities for innovation as well as mitigation of risks associated with the uneven impacts of known harms? The research agenda for the next three months will focus on Just AI in three thematic areas: - Sustainable development and the circular economy - Security and trust - Data and algorithmic governance *How do I apply?* Applicants should submit, by 7 July 2021: - a CV of max two pages long plus list of publications, - the names of two references, - two recent writing examples (no older than one year) – one academic and one informal in style, and - a motivation/cover letter, including a research idea of relevance to AI policy in Africa.
