We are aiming to attract dynamic, socially engaged young people and identify projects with a genuine potential to succeed. In addition to the up to CHF 10 000 of funding for the 12 finalist projects/concepts, we also seek to build a cohesive international community of social entrepreneurs and a network of mentors, who would help them realize their initiatives. Dear all, Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK), will be leading the industry and other stakeholders in celebrating World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on 17th May 2012. This day is celebrated to mark the founding of the International Telecommunication Union and the institutionalisation of the Information Society . The selected theme this year is "Women and Girls in ICT". The Commission has therefore organized a special forum in line with the theme, on "Harnessing the Potential for Women and Girls in ICTs" on the 17th May 2012 at Nairobi Safari Club, University Way from 8:00am - 2:00pm. It is the view of the Commission that this forum will provide a good opportunity for sharing knowledge and best practices on how we can create the right environment that will encourage the participation of women in the ICT sector. We wish to extend our invitation to various target participants including : Girls and Young women at the verge of entry into ICT careers; Young professionals in the area of ICT; Professional women in ICT; ICT Career support networks in the country; ICT entrepreneurs and innovators; academicians ; industry players among other stakeholders. This posting seeks interest of potential participants at the forum to contribute to the debate as beneficiaries, mentors or opinion shapers. Given the variety of audiences expected, consideration will also be given to the backgrounds of the potential participants, on first-come, first -come basis. Kindly note that participation is free but will be pegged to prior registration. All expressions of interest in participation should reach the Commission within the day or tommorow, 16th May 2012, noon at the latest.
