New authority to improve efficiency in ICT industry
ICTA now takes over the roles and resources previously held by the ICT Board of Kenya, the e-Government Directorate and the Government Information and Technology Services (GITS).
Who will be the Director-General? Dr. Ndemo is certainly a good bet. Louis Otieno of Microsoft is another. Dr. Shem Ochuodho. Stephen Kiptiness..... On Mon, Aug 19, 2013 at 10:07 AM, <philip@cskonline.org> wrote:

Why must we recycle the same old names? No offence to their expertise and decades of experience but must we entrust the same players with our IT strategies? On Mon, Aug 19, 2013 at 10:27 AM, James Mbugua <jgmbugua@gmail.com> wrote:

Certainly Dr. Ndemo, but is KICTA not under the Information/Communication Ministry? On Aug 19, 2013 10:34 AM, "James Mbugua" <jgmbugua@gmail.com> wrote:

I don't know if this age limit is the magic. Dr Ndemo was probably older than that when he was appointed PS and he did a great job we all seem to agree. I would say let's find the right person to head it. Personally, I would advocate for someone that has no interest in politics. Kivuva I disagree. The key word there is authority. Sometimes in our push for this innovative/youth centred agenda, we forget that real leadership skills, in sectors with extensive and unyielding self-interests requires experience to navigate. But the first line of defence is a credible board so we should look out for that. There is no need to get an innovative CEO while the board is a bunch of ideologically malleable individuals kowtowing to and pushing the interests of private sector and special interest groups.
