KNEC website goes tits up again
Year in, year out, we cannot offer our candidates a platform to effectively search their results. http://www.knec.ac.ke http://www.knec-results.ac.ke/ This must be a very basic function. -- ______________________ Mwendwa Kivuva For Business Development Transworld Computer Channels Cel: 0722402248 twitter.com/lordmwesh www.transworldAfrica.com | Fluent in computing kenya.or.ke | The Kenya we know

Listers, I think we are taking this once a year event too far, what is the difference if you get your results at the end of March instead of 2 minutes after the minister has received the CD or was it a flush disk (pun intended)? Does it mean technology cannot be employed to avert such a crisis? On Wed, Feb 29, 2012 at 3:19 PM, robert yawe <robertyawe@yahoo.co.uk> wrote:

Hi, I unfortunately do not see a crisis, the only way to offer a cost effective solution is to use a platform that can provide elasticity, yes its called a cloud. The proposal to have KNEC install sufficient capacity to deal with a 2 day overload a year is a waste of resources that could be better utilised elsewhere. This issue is reminiscent of our complaints about traffic jams in the city of Nairobi which are time specific, flyovers and overpasses should not be looked at as the immediate solution what we need is to spread the traffic by for example implementing flex time. No one will remember the exam result SMS fiasco come Friday this week so lets leave KNEC to spend their scarce resources where it will have the maximum impact. But makes a strong case in the cloud for IaaS - for such ad hoc periods when loads peak then taper off.
