The topic will be: Media and the implementation of the New Constitution: Is there coverage beyond politics and personalities? The panelists will be Charles Nyachae, Chair, Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC), Linus Kaikai, Managing Editor, NTV, Christine Nguku, Chair, Alternative Media Network (AMN) and General Manager, Sifa FM, and Zain Abubakar, Executive Director, URAIA. The event is open to members of the public to enhance public participation and understanding of the role of the media in the Kenyan society. Former newspaper editor, regular media commentator and consultant Kwamchetsi Makokha will moderate the discussions. This is part of a series of monthly round table meetings held on the last Tuesday of every month. The remit of the Monthly Media Round Tables is to deeply examine, in conversations with various organisations and people like academics/scholars, media practitioners/journalists, civil society, policy makers, media stakeholders, politicians, and ‘ordinary’ Kenyans, the role of the media in Kenya.
