Wangusi blocked from resuming office
Listers, Francis Wangusi was Thursday barred from resuming his post as director-general of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), despite a January 30 court order reinstating him in office. Mr Wangusi had gone to the CA premises on Nairobi’s on Waiyaki Way on Wednesday to “prepare” his office for the planned return but when he officially reported Thursday, four men blocked the gate to the authority’s offices denying him entry. ** Looks like Court orders don't matter any more. Do we respect the rule of law really? Why is it that some characters are hell bent on pushing Wangusi out of office.. On Feb 2, 2018 09:01, "Victor Kapiyo via kictanet" < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:

We condemn this actions considering the fact that a number of members on the CA board are colleagues in the industry. I also read in the media that there are quite a number of staff that are in office by order of the courts, why the double standards. Lastly I am also perplexed by the loud silence by a number of industry associations and lobby groups that have been at the fore front of championing corporate governance and condemning such actions. Chikungunya is spreading at an alarming rate. Regards On Fri, Feb 2, 2018 at 9:11 AM, Grace Githaiga via kictanet < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:

Walu If you want to live in Utopia then please be sure you are Utopian. You can’t be a Utopian and live in Dystopia. Wangusi created his own Dystopia when he started dishing out goodies selectively to MOICT in an arbitrary manner. He was like a Schizophrenic (Mara Utopian mara Dystopian). He abused his office just like the Mandarins in MOICT did. Corporate Governance thrown out of the window. This is like the proverbial tale of the camel and the Arab. The camel asked the Arab - ‘May I put my head in the tent just till the storm passes?’ The Arab feeling magnanimous agreed. In no time the camel was in the tent and the Arab out. Governance cannot be selective. We MUST have Public Servants who behave like Public Servants. Wangusi cooked himself when he became selective on how he dished out the largesse. He made his bed mine brother. :-) Ali Hussein Hussein & Associates +254 0713 601113 Twitter: @AliHKassim Skype: abu-jomo LinkedIn: http://ke.linkedin.com/in/alihkassim Blog: www.alyhussein.com "Discovery consists in seeing what everyone else has seen and thinking what no one else has thought". ~ Albert Szent-Györgyi Sent from my iPad

@Walu :-) All I’m saying is this :- Be squeaky clean when you are serving mwananchi so when you are hounded out you walk with your head high like the Utopian you are. Not even in Mature Democracies like the US is the world fully cured of arbitrary decisions by government types. Have we forgotten how Trump fired the FBI Director? Chief...this world is sliding back to the bad old days of the 80s..let’s tighten our belts. Anyone who serves in government serves at the pleasure...The constitution be damned. Ali, If indeed @Wangusi's issue was on financial matters, that would have been very easy to pick up on, instead of resorting to the 'lame' excuse of conducting a HR Audit while CEO takes leave! If that's how Audits are conducted(by having CEOs step aside) would we be having any CEOs in office? The issue with CAK is The Board that's entertaining these shenanigans and not @Wangusi! We need to ran our institutions by the law, the same law that's put him back in office! And that's not Utopian! I hear you Ngigi. And I’m not excusing what has happened to him. What I’m saying is that he allowed that door to be opened..and since the financial shenanigans may expose others (Mtego wa panya waingia waliyomo na wasekuamo) loosely translated ‘ A mouse trap catches all mice. It doesn’t discriminate among those who nimbled on the cheese and those who didn’t’. They had to find other means to get rid of him. Which brings me to the issue of Corporate Governance. Again. If we followed this to the later then Wangusi would come out smelling like roses and probably snapped up by other countries or international institutions. He’s is not a common skill set or experience. As it is I’m afraid he’s not so innocent either.. And yes. The Board is culpable. To the hilt. They can’t escape this. They by now should have come out openly and said this is not on. Or resign enmasse. But TIK. Don’t hold your breath. Francis Wangusi was Thursday barred from resuming his post as director-general of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), despite a January 30 court order reinstating him in office.
Mr Wangusi had gone to the CA premises on Nairobi’s on Waiyaki Way on Wednesday to “prepare” his office for the planned return but when he officially reported Thursday, four men blocked the gate to the authority’s offices denying him entry.

Looks like Court orders don't matter any more.

Sometimes you fight...not just for yourself... but for the future office holder as well.
I still believe senior government officials (even junior ones) deserve an honourable exit. Those days of civil servants walking around with radios because the former President Moi might sack them over the lunch-time news bulletin should never be brought back.
Who knows, you could be the next DG, and we may be discussing your 'sudden' exit right here, 3-5yrs from now ;-).
The market should be predictable. That includes top leadership positions at the communications regulator.
