Orange intensifies war against cable vandalism
Thanks Harry! Harry Hare #Orange intensifies war against #cable #vandalism http://bit.ly/h7uJWP “We are fed up, enough of cable cuts and vandalism, we have to do something,” a statement issued by Orange Chief Executive Officer Mickael Ghossein, while addressing the media today. He notes that cases of cable vandalism and sabotage are increasing at an alarming rate. In the year 2010, the integrated telecommunication service provider has experienced 342 cable cuts - 117 copper cuts and 225 optic fibre cable cuts. http://www.cio.co.ke/Main-Stories/orange-intensifies-war-against-cable-vanda...
342 cuts as at 7th December 2010! That is almost a cut per day through the year (considering the year is still not over). I am a customer of Orange-Telkom (Jambonet 4 Mbps on fibre via Ruaraka Exchange) and I am a victim too. My backup ISP is on Wimax and so slow. I'll be very happy when Orange-Telkom wins the war on vandalism. Why is someone angry at them for being so cheap and true to their customers? (Their 4 Mbps is truly 4 Mbps :) -- Ngũgĩ Kĩmani | Fundi wa Mitambo | 0772 576846 | http://www.mafundi.co.ke/home
Most of these cable cuts have more to do with sabotage. With such, it needs the industry regulator to stiffen monitoring that would mitigate this acts. The business of "destroy" your competitor so as to win business in unethical, old school and must be avoided at all costs. Fundi wa Mitambo; thanks for paying tribute to orange where they deserve it. It is through support of you, and the society at large that Orange shall surely win this war on Vandalism. @Philip On Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 11:29 AM, Ngũgĩ Kĩmani <ngugi@mafundi.co.ke> wrote:

I wish they could amend the law to make cable vandalism an economic crime, and send anyone caught in for 10 years without the option of a fine! -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!
McTim, Liko et al, This is what I have been arguing about IPv6 adoption. We need someone to kick ***. Otherwise all operators are happy to remain within their comfort zone (IPv4) ~~~~~~ From: Network World dot com http://tinyurl.com/2apjoqt The U.S. military is ratcheting up the pressure on its network suppliers to deploy IPv6 on their own networks and Web sites so they can gain operational experience and fix bugs in the products they are selling that support the next-generation Internet protocol. For years, the Defense Department in public forums and private conversations has been pushing network hardware and software companies to use their own IPv6 products, a practice known as "eating your own dog food" in tech industry parlance. Cisco eats its own IPv6 dog food Now, with depletion of IP addresses using the current standard known as IPv4 expected to occur next year, the Pentagon is taking a tougher stance with network suppliers that are marketing -- but not using -- IPv6. continues at: http://tinyurl.com/2apjoqt walu.
