Hallo Barrack What is an issue here is the process is not being followed. CA and CS distanced themselves and requested to be heard we do not know whether that happened. Other stakeholders have requested to be heard; TESPOK's letter at parliament is still waiting for response. Yet the bill is still proceeding and has gone through the second reading. It is important that due process is followed, otherwise what is the point of the constitution if the rights given in the constitution are being abused by the arm or government responsible of ensuring their protection when developing new laws? Is it not interesting that the Speaker of the National Assembly actually castigated the public for not engaging parliament when critical bills are being passed? We have discussed the issues of the proposed amendments on this list at length, and even got lucky to have Walu highlight them in his popular op-ed. It therefore goes that Parliament is not very keen to engage the masses in passing key bills, or they don't get our feedback, which are mostly are relayed through this list. In that regard, I request KICTANET to also write to the Speaker of both houses, and the Chairs of Parliamentary energy, communication and information The Hon. Jamleck Kamau, M.P. and Senate Committee on Information and Technology Sen Kagwe Mutahi. That way, we will have amplified the demands from the community and have a right to be heard. It would also be good if TESPOKs statement was captured by the mainstream media. If this is a reasonable way forward, we need to assign the duty to someone. Is it not interesting that the Speaker of the National Assembly actually castigated the public for not engaging parliament when critical bills are being passed?
We have discussed the issues of the proposed amendments on this list at length, and even got lucky to have Walu highlight them in his popular op-ed.
It therefore goes that Parliament is not very keen to engage the masses in passing key bills, or they don't get our feedback, which are mostly are relayed through this list.
In that regard, I request KICTANET to also write to the Speaker of both houses, and the Chairs of Parliamentary energy, communication and information The Hon. Jamleck Kamau, M.P. and Senate Committee on Information and Technology Sen Kagwe Mutahi.
That way, we will have amplified the demands from the community and have a right to be heard.
It would also be good if TESPOKs statement was captured by the mainstream media.
If this is a reasonable way forward, we need to assign the duty to someone.

It is important that due process is followed, otherwise what is the point of the constitution if the rights given in the constitution are being abused by the arm or government responsible of ensuring their protection when developing new laws?

Hallo All, TESPOK has put in requests for a meeting to relevant Hon. Members of Parliament and are waiting for feedback. We are also engaging KEPSA to be vocal about the impact of passing laws in such a manner and it's impact on business. TESPOK would like to see due process followed, if the line Ministry was not involved then who is involved? How will industry stakeholders be engaged? What mechanism does Parliament have to ensure all stakeholders are involved? TESPOK wrote to the National Assembly as soon as we were aware that the bill had proceeded as was for the second reading despite the positions of MOICT and CA. If there is anyone on the list who can shade light on when that engagement happened please advise us and share the invitation notice.
