Dear Colleagues, I want to take this opportunity to Congratulate those who received the awards this afternoon. This is a sign that our open source conversations for many years has finally come to fruition. Sincerely apologize for not playing the role that i was supposed to today. Alex, thank you for standing in for me. An unexpected urgent meeting coincided with the actual start of the session this afternoon and i could not in any way get myself out of the situation. I look forward to opportunities that will bring us together again. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Njeri Rionge (Ms) Executive Director & Founder Ignite Consulting Limited Tel: 254 (0)20 2364072 (Orange Fixed Plus) Tel: 254 (0)772 522 136 (Orange Mobile) Tel: 254 (0)722 522 136 (Safaricom Mobile) URL: www.igniteconsulting.co.ke P. I shall post our video link once videographer completes editing it. Alex Gakuru ---- "Ushahidi Wins an Open Source Award in Kenya!" By Erik Hersman "I'm really glad that I was able to accept the Kenya Humanitarian Open Source Award for Ushahidi today. Permanent Secretary of Communications Ndemo handed it out at the Panafric Hotel in Nairobi. We REALLY appreciate this award, because it’s an especially good feeling to be recognized in your own country. This is really an award for the Kenyan developers in Nairobi. A recognition for all the hard work and volunteer time that guys like Jason Mule, Laban Mwangi, Brian Muita, Wilfred Mworia, Amanya Kimathi, Jessica Colaco, Josiah Mugambi and Steve Mutinda (and others) have put into the platform. I’m about to start an Ushahidi meetup in Nairobi. It’s going to be about 30 people, including developers and users. A big thanks! http://blog.ushahidi.com/index.php/2009/05/27/ushahidi-wins-an-open-source-a... --ends-- On Wed, May 27, 2009 at 5:32 PM, <njeri.rionge@igniteconsulting.co.ke> wrote:
