you mean it is still down? Not good for them with the rumours circulating around that they got hacked.

I read in the papers that the problem had been rectified. There is one harm they are doing to themselves though - not revealing what caused the down time and how they mitigated it. It will only add more fuel to the fire - that they got hacked! Now, if someone hacks the KRA system, it means so much damage can be done. Useful information can be erased by some fellows intent on tax evasion or to erase evidence on ... you know? Robert asked why no one has made any comments on the KRA downtime. I must have seen some comments across at skunkworks. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler. Hi Robert, See this: http://orion.my.co.ke/pipermail/skunkworks/2011-May/047974.html - that is the only one I got to see. However, I don't subscribe to many other forums where this would have been supposedly discussed so I am green. It would appear to me that no one is interested in KRA issues or just the tech community in KE don't give a damn about anything unless they are affected, and can feel it. Even though there was a mention of the downtime in the press, trust me - what was important for me was that it was restored. No one loves the taxman! -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler. maybe the lack of comments shows that people are nor surprised that the site went down, nothing out of the normal.
"How come no one has made any comments on the downtime of KRA " This is Probably because the Govt collects SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS of hard working Kenyan Tax Payers REVENUE and has managed not to account for 714 BILLION Kenya Shillings in a 2 year period. In this respect, why should anyone care? Please note that the Simba system is more than just a web site its the heart of our revenue collection system and for it to go down for 3 days is an issue of grave concern to those of us in the ICT field foremost and the nation in general. If KRA's systems can go down yet they literacy have a blank cheque for system or what do we expect from our profit driven institutions? KRA needs to have 2 or 3 disaster recovery locations spread around the country with automated fail-over, so imagine if the same is the case with the immigration and other sensitive departments that hold our vital data, it seems we have all forgotten about WikiLeaks.
