I wonder if I'm the only one who's experiencing slow Internet since yesterday - both official and personal connection. Anyone knows what's going on?

If you read the article carefully, they cut the cable to Egypt, and not the one to Asia from where TEAMS joins. So what cut IMEWE ? Meanwhile, as one Mutoro calls for the ouster of Ndemo, I think we need to task him with getting a PPP between African governments for a cable that goes South, round the Cape and on to London to act as a backup. If BRICs are serious, they can fund a branch to Brazil. I'm sure TEAMS provides a good case study for doubting Thomases, being perhaps the cheapest cable by capacity in Africa? Another solution would be an Africawide IXP with inter country peering agreements. Gives multiple routes for connectivity. — Sent from Mailbox for iPhone On Sat, Mar 30, 2013 at 4:04 PM, Dennis Kioko <[email protected]> wrote:

The African Union has just awarded ISOC with the contract to implement a project to do just that. It is called the African Internet Exchange System (AXIS). I was involved in developing the proposal for the various interventions needed to make this happen. It was adopted by the African Union as part of their African Regional Action Plan for the Knowledge Economy (ARAPKE). Let us see how much progress is made with this implementation....
