Study on the participation of developing countries in the WSIS 2

Dear all The Association for Progressive Communication (APC) through Prof. David Souter and Dr. Lishan Adam is conducting a study on the participation of developing countries in the WSIS 2 process and the implication for domestic ICT policy. A case of Ethiopia, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, Brazil and Nigeria will be an integral part of the study. The aim is to assess the quality of developing country engagement in the WSIS process and the influence, which the stakeholders (government, private sector and civil society) have had in WSIS 2 negotiation outcomes and domestic ICT policy. Dr. Adam will be visiting Kenya 9-14 January to talk to local stakeholders on this. Since Kenya and KICTANET represent a truly multi-stakeholder partnership in influencing the ICT policy process and Kenya's WSIS participation, he would very much like to meet with the members of KICTANET for a focus group discussion on 10th of January at 4:00 PM to brainstorm on the WSIS process, progress and what is next? We believe, beyond the discussion of the progress so far, the meeting will provide KICTANet members with the opportunity to reflect on the way forward on ICT policy process in Kenya. The venue will be at the Jacaranda Hotel. We would be grateful if you kindly indicate your availability to meet with Dr. Adam by sending mail to Alice Munyua alice@apc.org copy to Lishan@citad.org Many thanks and happy new year.
