Whao! that was fast! I would have thought more time would be required to balance out the political lobbying :-). Either way, congrats to Wangusi, am sure quite a number chicken will be served for dinner in certain parts of the country :-) But on a more serious note, the DG task is quite cut out - especially as we head into the election. Whereas it would have been simply to balance the interests of Operators/Competitors, Govt and Consumers it is now complicated by the interests of (electioneering) Politicians, Bankers (mobile money) and more recently Bloggers (social media - ref. Robert,
It may have been prudent to call for an AGM before such drastic decisions
are made. The constitution accords evrybody a right to fair process. We
have the opportunity to show what really multistakeholderism means. This
where we must be torlerant of every individual no matter what their idea
may be. The report has to be approved by the AGM before the Board
implements. This is basic governance even in rigid organizations.

Hi Washington, I believe you are assuming that just because the posts of DG and PMG have been confirmed that they will now be more proactive. This confirmations are concerning as those being confirmed have been within the organisations all this time. There is no infusion of new blood or ideas, the status quo remains in both organisations. Washington, Mobitelea ceased to exist a few years ago. They no longer appear as Safaricom shareholders. Today, the shareholder structure of Safaricom is: Government of Kenya 35%; Vodafone 40%; Free Float 25%. And why would a DG be interested with the shareholding of a limited company? Congrats, Bw Wangusi. Although I don't exactly know what are your TORs, my belief and hope is that you'll flex your muscles enough to make things in the communication sector to be more vibrant and reflective of the various players.
Mr. Wangusi,
Here are two TORs for you:
1. I'd like to know who Mobitelea is. We can't keep on postponing the unmasking! 2. Let other mobitelea-like people to be known, especially those hoarding broadcast frequencies! We have a new constitution to stop these guys in their tracks should they seek (or be in) public office. 3. Hasten the release of the frequency spectrum that we need to use in 4G/LTE
