Hey all, I had tried to find out about this a while ago: Once number portability is introduced, how do subscribers know that they are making off-net calls? Have the mobile operators made any provisions? Does CCK require operators to provide some sort of signal? Or would Dr Ndemo be able to answer? Have the mobile operators made any provisions? I think so since they were part of the steering committee. You may recall that in December they sought for an extension hence April 1st. Does CCK require operators to provide some sort of signal? CCK can respond better on the technical aspects. If I am not wrong, this has already been done. Or would Dr Ndemo be able to answer? Andrea, Yes, the mobile operators have made provisions. When you call a number that has been ported, you will first hear an audible warning tone (three beeps)before the ring tone or ring back music where applicable. Once the caller picks the call, the off-net tariffs will apply. Apologies for the delayed response. I have been out of town for a while.
