Ebele,
From a personal perspective:
*Jambo Pay: https://www.jambopay.com/ <https://www.jambopay.com/>* *JamboPay* is an online payment gateway in Kenya and Africa - I can pay those annoying monthly bill without having to queue (convenience and electronic record) *Mo-de : https://www.linkedin.com/company/mode---mobile-decisioning-holding-ltd <https://www.linkedin.com/company/mode---mobile-decisioning-holding-ltd>* Based in Nairobi, Kenya, MoDe <http://www.mo-de.co/> provides instant nano-credit for pre-paid mobile phone users across Africa. The company MoDe gives loans of between $0.06 and $22 to mobile phone users, initially in the form of airtime, but have since moved onto a lot more in terms of facilities or utilities such as electricity bills, water bills and television subscriptions, nano insurance, etc. (micro loans for a phone call are a big deal in Kenya) *and a little know company known as the Interest rates Advisory Center*: www.irac.co.ke IRAC is the home of independent, objective and confidential : 1.Finance Cost Assurance Services (Overdraft Interest Confirmation) for Corporates. 2. Interest Recalculation of Mortgages, Business and Personal Loans. 3.Interest Recalculation for all interest-earning accounts 4. In Duplum Check and Monitoring Services They have been fighting the interest rates war for Kenyans for over a decade now. What is socio-entreprenuership? I fail to see how Jambo pay fits into the traditional definition. On 25 Aug 2016 08:19, "Peter Wakaba via kictanet" < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:

Hello Ebele, I'd recommend KAWE (Kenya Association for the Welfare of people with Epilepsy) who we are partners with. They are doing a great job in the social enterprise field. KAWE are a non-profit organisation and the only in Kenya who provide clinical and other support for those suffering with epilepsy. It is estimated around 800,000 persons (1 in 50) in Kenya suffer from this but are often overlooked and misunderstood through stigmatisation and ignorance, so their work is vital and should be supported. You can find more from their activities on their website *kawe-kenya.org <http://kawe-kenya.org> *or you can contact us. Hi Ebele, I would wish to nominate Taurus Farms. Founded by 3 Kenyan Yale University Alumni who despite being equipped with Degrees from the Ivy league institution choose to abandon quest for Corporate fame pursue a social cause by forming Tanuru Farms. Tanuru Farms seek to integrate small-scale farmers in South Nyanza into the regional agricultural value chains(AVCs) in the oilseeds sector; and eventually hope to facilitate value addition as well. Tanuru Farms firmly believes that the participation of small-scale farmers in AVCs will enable the farmers to harness the interdependence among the different actors in the value chain, namely the suppliers of inputs and seeds, the businesses providing technical support for farmers, the financiers, wholesale producers of farm products, the processors and associated sellers. 3 of Twiga's 4 founders are Kenya. I'm not. It's majority Kenyan owned. On Wed, Aug 31, 2016 at 12:54 PM, Martin Gicheru via kictanet < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:

Dear Ebele,
Cheza Sports Academy - http://chezasports.co.ke/ is a social enterprises that is innovative and has an impact despite being under-funded / under appreciated.
This academy mobilizes children from poor and rich backgrounds for specialized soccer training.Parents who are well off pay more for their children to be in the academy than parents from poor backgrounds. Every Sunday, the children get to visit each other and get to learn basic life skills despite the varied economic backgrounds. This year, the academy took 2 kids to Dana Cup International in Denmark, One of the most prestigious youth international soccer event. The most interesting part is the fact that children together with their parents fund-raised to make the Denmark Trip a success. The players are children and youth aged between 3 and 19 years - http://chezasports.co.ke/players
The academy employs 3 full-time coaches who are mostly from poor economic background. The academy does not have any external funding. It relies on players fees and directors contributions

I believe Ebele asked Which born and bred in Kenya social enterprises rather than nationalities of the founders. Why are we so keen on classifying each other though the lenses of tribes and nationalities rather than impact?
