Hello all, Just need some clarification from anyody who has used eCitizen.go.ke recently or in the past to register a business name. The portal only has FAQs for EVISA and not EBUSINESS (s. My current dilemma is after applying for a business name search the application status is showing 'Reserved' but it is not clear what 'Reserved' means. Does it mean that the name has already been registered or it has been reserved so that I can register it. (Maybe they relook using the word reserved and replace it with AVAILABLE or NOT AVAILABLE) Anybody on this forum who can assist with my dilemma? -- Warm Regards Henry Cell +254721899572 _______________________________________________________________________________ *Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Henry, I have used the portal since Jan 16. By Reserved, it means the name has been "reserved" and yes you can go ahead and register your company. The portal though seems to work only for sole proprietorship and partnership companies, not limited!!! Hi Henry, To register a business name using eCitizen, you have to go through two processes. 1. Reserve the name (costs Sh.150). If successfully reserved you will get the status showing Reserved and if not, it will tell you that it has been Rejected. 2. Using the code for the name reservation, register the business name (costs about Sh.850). You will need to provide supporting documentation to complete this stage. A word of caution. Do not try to use eCitizen to register a company. It's been five weeks since I made that mistake and after being thrown about from office to office, I fear I will have to do the whole process again offline and pay again. Hi, Reserved means that you have successfully put aside that name for your use. It is normally valid for 30 days. For companies, there is ongoing reform to conform with the new Companies Act and (na sio kupiga debe) it is easier to use your advocate as an agent. You're welcome Henry, My advice - follow Grace's advice. You can use an advocate or even submit the documents yourself, but do it offline. Regards, Harry Karanja 0722-828967 On Wed, Feb 17, 2016 at 1:31 PM, Henry Okatch <hokatch@gmail.com> wrote:
