Good morning Listers So far the discussion has been good and has raised good points. Thanks to all who have actively continued to participate and even those who are silent observers:) Everyone's support is appreciated. Today is day 5 of the discussion and the final day before we start compiling the concerns that have been raised. We dedicate it to "any other issue(s)" that listers may want to raise in regard to the Convention. Additionally, listers can go back to issues of any other day and discuss them here. Grace Mine is to say that any legislation should first and foremost:- 1. In principle have a self regulatory mechanism and Governments to step in as an agent of last resort 2. Should not breathe fire and brimstone to the extent that it scares off investors and other players in both the commercial and social space. 3. Should ensure the rights and freedoms of citizens and others who live within the borders are enshrined especially during this tough period where international terrorism seems to be everywhere. 4. Last but not least should create a conducive environment for capital attraction and commerce to prosper. Most of us are not lawyers, therefore some intricacies of the draft document might pass us. 1. How will cross-border crimes be prosecuted? Will there be extraditions? 2. Where this draft is in contradiction to local laws, which one will take precedence? 3. If a country say Kenya rejects parts of the document, and other countries ratify the document, are we still bound to stick by it?
