He is going to New York to attend the United Nations Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Just before he leaves, you will have the chance to take part in a two-hour chat with the Commissioner, live from Brussels, on a number of issues : What is the European Union doing about development and humanitarian aid? What do you think of it? Are we doing enough? How can you, and the EU, help to achieve the Millennium Development Goals? ¿Why not to ask about women rights?
Put your questions direct to the Commissioner (*), live, on 12 September between 18.00 and 20.00 CET, or send them already now to this mailbox dev-webchatmichel@cec.eu.int <dev-webchatmichel@cec.eu.int>. Remember, this is your chance to debate the issues live with your Commissioner.

Dear all,
If I understood it correctly, the question is whether the MDG Summit is open for NGO influence. The actual Summit is not, what we heard was that we don not even have to try to come near 1st Avenue. If NGOs wish to influence the MDG Summit in September, they should do this by lobbying friendly governments. In June, there have been civil society hearings in the General Assembly.
Kind regards,
