In case you did not follow the proceedings, I wish to share the hotly contested election results (without violence ;-) for the Board positions for AfriNIC. The following candidates won the mandate to represent East Africa Region for 3yrs as follows: Badru Ntege, .UG: Primary Director John Walubengo, .KE : Alternate Director. Simon Balthazar from .TZ came a close third and I think in three years time, the region should consider nominating someone from TZ to represent us on the Board. regards and thanks to all those who participated and supported the East African candidates. regards. walu. --- On Thu, 5/17/12, Walubengo J <jwalu@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Walubengo J <jwalu@yahoo.com> Subject: Fw: AFRINIC-16 Public Policy Meeting in The Gambia - Opening Ceremony To: "Kenya ICT Policy - kictanet" <kictanet@kictanet.or.ke>, "I-Network Uganda" <i-network@dgroups.org>, "eThinkTankTZ eThinkTankTZ" <ethinktanktz@yahoogroups.com> Date: Thursday, May 17, 2012, 2:49 PM for your info. hotly contested is an understatement:-) We had !fun with this years elections.... I was just happy to see more people wanting to be involved. Kenya has >40 LIR's next time we should get a lot more people voting and debating issues. Number resource management looks trivial but soon very soon things will get interesting with the end of V4 address space and 16bit ASN's. gitau On Sat, May 19, 2012 at 1:03 PM, Judy Okite <judyokite@gmail.com> wrote:

@Gitau, True that ;-) @All, thanx for the congratulatory message. And yes, we need more participation from Kenya and East Africa in general. Just to highlight the importance of AfriNIC. i) they are uniquely mandated to manage IP resources in Africa - in layman terms, they are the "sole" manager/distributor of internet numbers in Africa. Remember, No IP Number = No Internet Access. ii) they have grown to be a multi-national organization with an annual budget value of over 3million USD. iii) Participation in its activities is OPEN to any user based in Africa and largely on their mailing lists http://www.afrinic.net/index.php/en/community/email-a-mailing-lists. iv) They hold Bi-annual face-2-face meetings in May and Nov in selected African countries. So please get involved ;-) walu. --- On Sun, 5/20/12, John Gitau <jgitau@gmail.com> wrote: From: John Gitau <jgitau@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [kictanet] Fw: AFRINIC-16 Public Policy Meeting in The Gambia - Election Results To: jwalu@yahoo.com Cc: "KICTAnet ICT Policy Discussions" <kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> Date: Sunday, May 20, 2012, 2:00 PM hotly contested is an understatement:-) We had !fun with this years elections.... @All, thanx for the congratulatory message.
So please get involved ;-)

hotly contested is an understatement:-) We had !fun with this years elections....
I was just happy to see more people wanting to be involved. Kenya has >40 LIR's next time we should get a lot more people voting and debating issues. Number resource management looks trivial but soon very soon things will get interesting with the end of V4 address space and 16bit ASN's.

In case you did not follow the proceedings, I wish to share the hotly contested election results (without violence ;-) for the Board positions for AfriNIC. The following candidates won the mandate to represent East Africa Region for 3yrs as follows:
Badru Ntege, .UG: Primary Director John Walubengo, .KE : Alternate Director.
Simon Balthazar from .TZ came a close third and I think in three years time, the region should consider nominating someone from TZ to represent us on the Board.
regards and thanks to all those who participated and supported the East African candidates.
