Thank you Esther, This is an excellent opportunity to engage both with the East African ICT Policy exercise as well as with the review of our own policy. I discussed this yesterday with Dr. Ndemo and agreed that the week of the 28th will like an ICT focus week - with policy work at the earlier part and finishing off with a look at the various stakeholder bodies in ICTs. Hello Esther - I know we meet in a number of fora but it's good to see you on this discussion list. I have one request: can you check with Wakubwa if you can be the Ministry liaison on the list. Sometimes I find we need certain documents e.g. recently we asked for the ICT Masterplan or Summary to no avail. For this meeting I need to prepare by looking at some documents: 1) The Identification of Strengths and Weaknesses report mentioned in the invitation letter 2) The draft Harmonization Framework also mentioned in the letter 3) The ICT Policies for Uganda/Tanzania if available. Where can I access them? The other option if we are to walk our talk is of course to be having pertinent documents online and downloadable. I would suppose that the ICT Board is best suited to serve as a national ICT instruments repository considering their mandate at http://www.ict.go.ke/? This way, we would have a government-wide, institutionalised access to ICT instruments. Last week with the Directorate of e-Government, they co-organised a meeting for all ministries ICT Heads that was held between 9th-13th at Mombasa. I was invited to present on FOSS (under the auspicies of Linux Professionals Association of Kenya.) From various ministries' presentations I learnt of so many ongoing public sector ICT projects. My turn, I started off my presentation by showing this Open Movie <http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/index.php/download/>;) But I never got to sharing Creative Commons - Open Music: "On Jamendo artists allow anyone to download and share their music. It's free, legal and unlimited." <http://www.jamendo.com/en/> Then, went on to a little more serious FOSS stuff. (Read motive:- Spreading FOSS:) regards, Alex On Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 8:32 PM, waudo siganga <emailsignet@mailcan.com> wrote:
