Over the past year, Small Media has been working in partnership with The Collaboration on International Policy for East and Southern Africa, The East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project (Defend Defenders), and Strathmore University Centre for IP and IT Law (CIPIT) to produce a new report evaluating the digital threats facing civil society organisations working across East Africa – in Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania. At this session, Small Media and its partners will present the findings of its latest report Supercharging Human Rights Defenders in East Africa, and then engage in a discussion with a range of stakeholders about how to best support regional civil society organisations to overcome the multitude of digital security challenges they face.
