Re: [kictanet] Digital Villages - Edwin Onchari
A 20 something year old from my local village in Kisii with little to nil prior business experience signs up for the DV loan, and starts up the business. The question they need to be asking themselves is- " how do I pay back my loan"?...in other words, where is the business going to come from and is it sustainable? Given this, I was to suggest (and I have stated this in my posts) that the govt can provide a sizable source of business for the DVs using the BPO model. At least now one thing is pretty clear, never ask GOK hard questions (not even in 2011), else you are negative and unpatriotic. I am asking you if we can uninvite him to next week's meeting. There is sufficient evidence that not much will happen if we do not have a positive attitude. Edwin of course has a right to see me as a public servant but in this meet I have invited more postivists and may be boring to him. Let me have your views sir. Ndemo. Edwin, Just a thought in relation to your stand.....It would be good to support noble ideas....the best we should do is probably share better ideas....
Given this, I was to suggest (and I have stated this in my posts) that the govt can provide a sizable source of business for the DVs using the BPO model. - Just what tangible example do you have for this? As it is, this statement sounds so much of a vision and not what can be put on a table today....
At least now one thing is pretty clear, never ask GOK hard questions (not even in 2011), else you are negative and unpatriotic. - I suggest we steer off this road, issue at hand should be a on the realization of the Digital Villages project besides other ICT business ventures such as can be found in the BPO Sector...
