New gTLDs time line and .XXX approval

ICANN 40 ended this morning; here are the main resolutions. Pierre D. ICANN 40: Board Sets New gTLDs Timeline; Approves .XXX Domain [image: Board Sets New gTLDs Timeline; Approves .XXX Domain]<http://www.icann.org/en/minutes/resolutions-18mar11-en.htm> ICANN's Silicon Valley meeting, held at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, concluded 18 March with the public meeting of its Board of Directors. The ICANN community handled a wide array of Internet policy issues, including: • ICANN's next public meeting will be held in Singapore, June 2011. • The Board intends to complete the process for final approval of the New gTLD implementation program at an extraordinary meeting of the ICANN Board to be held on Monday, 20 June 2011, at the ICANN public meeting in Singapore. • The Board endorsed all 27 of the recommendations made by the Accountability and Transparency Review Team, and requested ICANN Staff to prepare implementation plans. • The period for accepting public comments about the process for creating new GNSO constituencies was extended. • The Board supported entering into a Registry Agreement with ICM, approving .XXX as a new top-level domain.
