2016 ITU Global ICT Capacity Building Symposium 5th - 8th September 2016 at the Safari Park Hotel
Dear listers, We would like to let you know that the 2016 Global ICT Capacity Building Symposium (CBS-16) scheduled to take place from 6th to 8th September 2016 at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya under the theme ‘Embracing Capacity Building Opportunities in the Digital Era’. The Symposium will be preceded by a pre-conference event which will take place on 5th September 2016. This will be dedicated to the topics of “Capacity Building in Internet Governance” and “Regulators as Enablers and Beneficiaries of Capacity Building”. The Symposium is hosted by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) on behalf of the Government of Kenya in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The ITU CBS-16 is the main global event for capacity development in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The Symposium will bring together ICT Ministers, Education Ministers, heads of national/ ICT regulatory authorities, heads of international organizations, chief executive officers of private sector companies, members of the academia and experts from around the world to discuss trends and developments in the sector and their implications for human and institutional capacity building. ITU CBS-16 will equally feature high-level debates addressing key questions on policy issues relating to human capacity building in the ICT sector. The Symposium will also debate how ICT could play a catalytic role in helping countries attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among other topical issues that are critical to the development of ICTs. The Authority invites your esteemed organization to be part of the Symposium for networking and contribution to the debates on global topical ICT sector capacity building issues. We further request you to nominate a maximum of two (2) representatives from your institution that shall take part in the Symposium.
