Dear All, Just to clarify that indeed the Telecommunication Service Providers through one of her members Internet Solutions Sponsored the Internet for Kenya IGF and East African IGF. They also chaired a couple of sessions. I suppose the questions may have been targeted to specific service providers who didn't have representatives hence the confusion, i recall a similar question being posed about KeNIC which was actually a key sponsor of the two events, i suppose in future we may want to allow the service providers to run some videos on what they do. I raised this question at the Forum and to date we have no satisfactory response.

Considering that the regulators and Government through CCK, the Ministry of Information and Communications, e-government took the time to be there (every day), is it that the Forum(s) is not of value to Service Providers?

The Service Providers are at present a (the) major 'governor" to internet and internet governance in Kenya.

We are dealing with issues of children access, and in Kenya's current situation cyber crime, terrorism, cyber wars all driven through the internet - a major threat to peace as we get into the election period.

The Post office cannot be delivering smelly rotten eggs into your postal box and not be made accountable for blindly receiving the courier parcel in the first place!

As a stakeholders Forum, this was truly a glaring missing link.

Addressing this concern will enable ISOC KE as the convener of subsequent IGFs to know how to suitably engage with Service Providers among other players.
