Re: [kictanet] Are the American Internet Giants Politically Agnostic?
Blessed MONDAY! This discussion may be looked at from closer home. With all the divergent information from our friends as they go to their polls, this is good fodder for the nations that have given notice of (or already have done it) e.g social media blockage or more broadly to self manage social media in the nation for some period during election time. One media house piece, counteracted by another or the defending organisation statement. Which government unit do we have to keep up with this? And be real and bring this closer home. Government have democracies to manage. Anything, anything, anything that presents itself to them as unmanageable, mixed up information and misinformed irresponsible....overall with preserved destabilisation tendencies shifts from the famous adage of freedom to information to security. Then to online teargas!! The onus is sitting with the owners, experts, advocates; you know this is coming up soon. What are you doing? Let it not be waiting as civil society including local media builds a battalion of know how and yet you know that the parallel is not within relevant Government agencies; more about understanding dynamics than even dynamics. Partnerships now may avert this and breed a positive vibrant election period social media. Be blessed. But just to avoid confusion-I’ve voted in US elections since 1992, and I’ve volunteered for three different campaigns over the years. It’s quite complicated even for those of us who vote in the US to understand, much less trying to follow it from afar! Your understanding of the Democratic primary system is, unfortunately, completely incorrect, both generally and in this specific case. Have a look at the links I posted previously for information about how this system works. Also, for context-Clinton has won over 3 million more votes than Sanders in the primaries thus far. So, the will of the people, as measured by the popular vote, is overwhelmingly for Clinton. Also, even though Sanders is vowing to stay in until July (although he’s amended this in some reports to Tuesday, after the DC primary), we already know who the nominee is, because Clinton already has 800 more delegates than Sanders, and she also has 400 more than she needs to win. There is no way for Sanders to win, unless Clinton drops out of the race. It is, as they say, all over but the shouting, and fortunately, a savage social media game does not necessarily lead to electoral victory. Which brings me back to the original point of this thread. . . See here for the vote breakdown-http://www.wsj.com/articles/hillary-clinton-takes-decisive-lead-over-bernie-... OK basically I think this not a political discussion. But the way I understand this is that the sad thing about American primaries is that I guess the Delegates and Super Delegates have the power to over-turn the will of the voters in the July convention. I would believe Hillary goes through because of the current pledges ma
