Fwd: Apple Developer Website Update
So ... Even Apple gets hacked ... so we should not trash our local sites when this happens ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Apple Developer <developer@insideapple.apple.com> Date: Mon, Jul 22, 2013 at 2:01 AM Subject: Apple Developer Website Update To: agostal@gmail.com ** [image: Apple Developer] Apple Developer Website Update [image: headershadow] Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then. In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon. I sincerely doubt that if a local site was hacked and their database was accessed, that they would notify their userbase about it. Is there a law that compels them to do that in Kenya (like the California user data laws that require this type of notification)? --- Kili.io - OpenStack for Africa: https://angel.co/kili-io Musings: https://twitter.com/varud About Adam: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamcnelson On Mon, Jul 22, 2013 at 10:32 AM, Agosta Liko <agostal@gmail.com> wrote:

This would be under "Data Protection" legislation which is still "work in progress ?" in Kenya.
