Hi All, A few days ago I raised the fear that my posts were being censored an issue that was put to rest by Walu when he indicated that the Kictanet systems were blocking mail from Yahoo servers, I have noted the same issue when sending mail to various other domains from my yahoo account. Remote host said: 554 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [77.238.189.23] blocked using dnsbl.sorbs.net; Currently Sending Spam See: http://www.sorbs.net/lookup.shtml?77.238.189.23 [RCPT_TO] So I ask, has Yahoo's systems finally been hacked into and could this mean the end of free email as we know it? Hi Robert, Yahoo Mail does not have the best when it comes to security. Users accounts are frequently hacked and used to send spam emails. However, there are very many other free email providers, including GMail, Zoho, FastMail, Hotmail to name but a few. Free email is big business and I doubt it will go anywhere soon. Yahoo! is obviously prone to hackers much more easily than other free email accounts. However, free emails will not cease, in the near future. That I know. On 18/04/2012, Brian Ngure <brian@pixie.co.ke> wrote:

"Free email is big business". That's right. Which is the proof that "Free email is not FREE". Sorry, we all know what the price is: Privacy not $$$. The question is really how much privacy units are you paying to get that service for "free $$$". My 26 years in Business and IT thought me that there is not Free launch :-) But we all know that. Just a reminder. @Bobby, I don't particularly trust www.sorbs.net as a DNS Blacklist database. Yes, that IP 77.238.189.23 belongs to Yahoo but it's listing in SORBS remains questionable to me. It could be a false positive or a malicious listing. So much junk mail originate from Yahoo accounts (always very vulnerable to getting compromised) and someone might have decided to list that Yahoo IP with sorbs blacklist service to teach them a lesson.
