Hi All This is great and will assist the SMES However I think the SMEs and even homeworkers can afford the PC but the hindrance has been the cost of the Bandwidth. Can the company consider as an alternative the charge for the link only. This may persuade those firms with standalone computers to subscribe to the service. Cheers

On behalf of Alunite, let me thank you very much for
V.G. Question because I have a BIG problem with the all too common only question from ISPs "How many PCs do you want to conenect?" When one buys bandwidth they are free to connect as many PCs as they wish. ISP are not neutral as to advice because they wish users to buy the next most expensive. They should tell users "We sell our bandwidth (x) at price (y)" and allow us the freedom to decide on bandwidth usage (i.e. how many PCs to connect to our internal LAN or if we want to set up own neighbourhood hot spots. Early 2004, one ISP told me "it is illegal to share my link with my neighbours" and they disconnected. I reported to case CCK and they softened. I think too often ISPs want to the whole cake to it all alone. Thanks for raising this. Thnx Lucy, I want to get this right! 1) Am not entittled to stay with you one year,if I have my own PC? is this right? but the cost is averagely 6k per month? 2) I have to sign a one year contract if you give me a "free" PC...does this apply to only 1 PC or I can ask for as many as my modem can connect? A contract binds, so it will not matter how am paying, but what Alunite will expect is 72k at the end of the year. Unfortunately I dont see how a home user with one PC is going to benefit or call it "cheap"...you must be doing some "serious" business online to accumlate this amount, dont you think so? 3) this price is for what speed? 32/128, 64/256?, 128/512? Judy: In response to the points you raised: 1) There has been a lot of interest by users who already have PCs so on review Alunite will offer these users a Kshs. 4,500 + VAT monthly rate. One year contract is for all subscribers to the Alunite service. 2) One PC 3) This one is subjective so I will just say that until and unless TEAMS/ESSAy/FlAG and the latest one I forget the name are a reality this is the best we can do. 4) The speed is 256k Regards Lucy

Hi Judy, I think it would be fair to first get commercial details directly with Lucy as she pointed out in her reply. I fear targeting just one individual ISP contract may not be very fair. ICT Consumer Association of Kenya takes on complaints on any one of them that gives the consumer a different service than that entered into contract. We educate consumers to make informed choice but in the end, one makes their decision from whom to get services. Hopefully, I am fair to everyone? Thanks much Alex Judy Okite <judyokite@gmail.com> wrote: Thnx Lucy, I want to get this right! 1) Am not entittled to stay with you one year,if I have my own PC? is this right? but the cost is averagely 6k per month? 2) I have to sign a one year contract if you give me a "free" PC...does this apply to only 1 PC or I can ask for as many as my modem can connect?
