Local Government IT Shared Services Services Project is in the Final Phase In This Edition... ✓ Understanding the Target State ✓ Imapct of IT Shared Services SSC DRAFT BUSINESS PLAN COMPLETED The complete Business Plan has been drafted and is currently in review with Project leadership. The Plan confirms the Current State Analysis (from data collection), proposes the future Technology Model and provides a roadmap for the implementation of the phases of IT Shared Services support to Local Authorities of Kenya.
PROJECT MEMBERS VISIT IRISH SSC Members of the Local Government Shared Services Project visited a Shared Services Centre in Ireland to view and understand the operational requirements of a high- performing Government SSC. SPECIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT As the Project approaches the final phase, the Project team would like to thank and acknowledge the 22 visited Local Authorities and all Ministry of Local Government stakeholders who have played instrumental roles in the successful completion of this Project phase.

The Local Government IT Shared Services Project has concluded the strategy phase of the Project, with completion of the IT Shared Services Draft Business Plan and Roadmap. Progress Spotlight...UNDERSTANDING THE TARGET STATE, BUSINESS PLAN ROADMAP TO DELIVER IT SHARED SERVICES TO LOCAL AUTHORITIES OF KENYA
The Local Government IT Shared Services Project has defined a strategy to implement Shared Services support for the Local Authorities of Kenya. The proposed Business Plan outlines the IT services, future Technology Model, implementation timeline and strategic roadmap to deliver IT Shared Services Support to the Local Authorities of Kenya. The draft Business Plan is currently under review with the KICTB and E-Government leadership.
The drafted Local Government IT Shared Services Project Business Plan aligns with the Central Government IT Shared Services Project Business Plan, with additional consideration for Local Authorities located outside of the Nairobi region and the future County Government structure outlined in the new Constitution. Project Themes...IMPACT OF IT SHARED SERVICES ON LOCAL AUTHORITIES OF KENYA
IT Shared Services will provide the Local Government of Kenya with:
✓ Increased visibility of the cost of providing IT services to Local Authorities, ✓ A dedicated, accountable organization providing a professional service to Local Government, ✓ A leading-practice organization comparable with Governments globally, ✓ Evidence of Kenya's ability to provide efficient and effective Shared Services, ✓ A foundation for the provision of Shared Services for other functional areas (eg. HR, Finance, Procurement, etc).
Local Government IT Shared Services support will be implemented over a number of years according to the Shared Services Roadmap. Staff will notice improved access to IT support services as well as the provision of additional IT services.
